“I’m so impressed with how hydrating this concealer feels—no dryness and zero creasing in the fine lines that are starting to creep in around my eyes. It’s amazing at neutralizing the redness around my nose, too, and the Centella asiatica (a staple in so many K-beauty favorites) calms my sensitive skin instantly.” —Christa Joanna Lee, contributing commerce writer

Why it’s worth it: Creamy, creaseless, and non-comedogenic, Kosas’ Revealer Concealer is a standout for every skin type. “I’m obsessed with this concealer. The super creamy texture is incredibly hydrating, but once it sets, it stays,” says Tomy Rivero, a makeup artist based in New York City and Los Angeles, who notes that it’s especially good for dry skin types. Its skin-loving formula—featuring caffeine, glycerin, squalane, sunflower seed oil, hyaluronic acid, and collagen-boosting peptides—helps smooth skin as it conceals crow’s feet, dark circles, and fine lines. Plus, with 38 shades (plus brightening, color-correcting versions), “the full range of skin tones covers everyone,” says Rivero.

"This is like the Swiss Army Knife of concealers for me. I use the flat sponge to deposit just a few dabs of concealer beneath my eyes or the more precise tip to spot-cover redness around my nose. I've also found that it blends in seamlessly with my fingers—no brushes needed, which is always a plus." —Deanna Pai, contributing commerce editor

Why it's worth it: If you like your concealer to look like skin first and coverage second, Tower 28’s Swipe Serum Concealer nails that balance. The serum-like texture goes on sheer and lightweight, then builds easily where you need more coverage—whether that’s over dark circles, redness, or the occasional blemish. Its hydrating base, powered by hyaluronic acid and soothing Centella asiatica, keeps the formula flexible and smooth so it layers without caking or creasing. Cosmetic chemist Laura Lam-Phaure notes the inclusion of lysine, an amino acid that supports tissue repair and helps ease dryness, which can make fine lines more pronounced. “It goes on super smoothly, and the texture is forgiving on delicate or reactive areas,” says New York City-based makeup artist Lisa Aharon.

"This is the creamiest concealer on the planet, or at least in my vast collection. I love that it feels lightweight but offers full coverage, making it perfect for covering dark undereye circles. It also doesn't dry out and crack, which I appreciate on days when I won't have time to touch up my makeup before dinner." —Kara McGrath, former content director

Why it's worth it: As iconic as it is, our testers have found that the OG Tarte Shape Tape Concealer tends to be too drying for aging skin. But the Tarte Shape Tape Radiant Concealer? That's a different story. This Best of Beauty Award winner gives a second-skin finish that works really well if you prefer the "found-cealer" look—in other words, spot-concealing all over, rather than applying a full face of foundation. This formula imparts a soft-focus finish that covers up concerns, but still looks like your skin. And, ICYMI, the formula is infused with three weights of hyaluronic acid. "The smaller the molecular weight, the deeper it penetrates," Los Angeles-based cosmetic chemist Jane Tsui explains. "The larger molecular weight sits more superficially on the skin and can give a wrinkle-filling effect while also drawing moisture to the skin." Fine lines and creases, who?

"My concealer usually starts to crease around my eyes by lunchtime, but these diamond powders really seem to be doing their fill 'em in job. Radiant looked essentially as good as it had when I first applied it seven hours earlier.” —Kara McGrath, former content director

Tester feedback from senior beauty editor Jesa Marie Calaor

AccordionItemContainerButtonLargeChevron

"Shape Tape Radiant has the same applicator and easy-to-blend texture as its predecessor. The difference is in its subtle, reflective finish. It dries down to feel like skin, not slick or sticky the way some other luminous concealers feel, and masks redness and hyperpigmentation completely. I used the shade Medium Honey on my undereyes (which tend to get dark), along my cheekbones (where I have dark spots from past breakouts), and around my nostrils (where I have redness). I plan to keep both Shape Tape concealers in my beauty arsenal." —Jesa Marie Calaor, senior beauty editor

Lightweight silicones and emollients help the product set and stay put, while glycerin and sunflower seed oil prevent it from looking cakey. Botanical extracts like moringa and rose add a softening touch. The precise applicator makes it easy to target dark spots, redness, or under-eye circles, but “because of the vast shade range, you can also use it to sculpt, shape, or highlight,” says Radow.

Why it's worth it: According to Baltimore-based makeup artist Ngozi Olandu Young, your “pigmentation and undertones shift” with age as the under-eye skin thins, allowing underlying blood vessels and discoloration to show through more clearly. This means under-eye darkness can lean blue, purple, or brown, making it all too easy for concealer to look ashy or pasty. Fenty Beauty’s Bright Fix Eye Brightener is designed to combat that issue, combining light-diffusing powders and smoothing silicones with hydrators like glycerin and sodium hyaluronate. “The lightweight texture blends seamlessly into mature skin without emphasizing texture or dryness,” says Young. “It’s ideal for natural-looking brightening across all skin tones.”

Why it's worth it: If there’s one concealer makeup artists consistently come back to, it’s Clé de Peau Beauté’s Concealer SPF 27, which features built-in sun protection. While it’s not enough SPF to rely on alone, it does help reinforce the sunscreen you’re already wearing, especially in the delicate under-eye area. Young calls the stick “exceptionally creamy and forgiving,” noting that it “reflects light to visibly brighten darkness while softly blurring fine lines.” Hyaluronic acid and argan oil help plump and cushion thinning skin, allowing the formula to melt in seamlessly and resist creasing throughout the day. One caveat: The titanium dioxide-based sunscreen and stick format limit deeper shade options, but for smooth, luminous coverage on mature skin, it remains a go-to for many.

Why it's worth it: If most full-coverage concealers tend to spotlight dry patches and fine lines, Make Beauty’s Skin Mimetic Concealer is a welcome change of pace. The 2025 Best of Beauty Award winner is designed to move with your skin: “This is especially good for under-eyes because it flexes with the skin instead of sitting on top of it,” says Renée Loiz, a makeup artist based in Los Angeles. The skin-like texture also makes it great for spot coverage—and even for subtle highlighting or contouring, depending on the shade. It's also supremely blendable, thanks you hydrating ingredients; they include red algae extract to help draw in moisture, while squalane and glycerin keep skin cushioned and comfortable. “You get the color payoff, but the finish stays hydrated and smooth,” adds Loiz. There’s also adenosine to smooth the look of fine lines, and green coffee extract with caffeine helps brighten dark circles. The result is skin that looks like skin, just having its most well-rested day.

Frequently Asked Questions

What to look for in a concealer for mature skin

"I look for concealers that have moisturizing ingredients like glycerin or hyaluronic acid, as well as a natural finish because mature skin is often dry with surface texture," says Black. She finds that radiant, luminous, soft, and natural-matte finishes work best on mature skin. She also prefers formulas that can be layered to build up coverage just where it's needed.

In other words, "Avoid thick, drying concealers as they bring out [ fine] lines," makeup artist Nick Barose suggests. "When it comes to undereye concealer, you need a formula that will give you coverage but without looking cakey or dry, which emphasizes fine lines.

How to choose the right shade

When selecting a shade of concealer, you shouldn't expect that shade to remain the same throughout the year. "People run into difficulty when blending and shade-matching, especially when they rely on one shade year-round," New York City-based makeup artist Tommy Napoli previously told Allure. "We know this is trouble because we are not the same shade in summer as we are in winter." If your go-to concealer isn't a great match, consider what time of year you purchased it and then invest in a new shade to fit your current skin tone.

How to apply concealer for mature skin

Stick to a light hand and build up your coverage where it's actually needed so you don't venture into cakey, fine-line-emphasizing territory. Makeup artists recommend using a sponge for the best results, whereas "[using your] fingers can look blotchy, uneven, or gloppy, which can make your lines come out more," Barose explains. "If you need coverage under the eyes or on spots, find a thin, highly-pigmented concealer that locks into place and doesn’t require powder," per makeup artist and photographer Beau Nelson. Alternatively, "if you love your current concealer and it doesn't self-set, try setting it with a blurring powder and a small, soft brush," he suggests.

How we test and review products

Before reviewing any makeup, we ask questions about a number of factors: What ingredients are in it? Does the brand offer a wide shade range inclusive of consumers with all skin tones and undertones? Is it safe for readers who have sensitive skin or wear contact lenses? Is it on the affordable side or more of a splurge? Is its packaging consciously designed or needlessly wasteful?

For our review of the best concealers for mature skin, we enlisted the help of multiple editors, writers, contributors, and makeup artists to review the products. This ensures our testing base spans different skin tones, genders, and dermatological conditions. We considered each product's performance across four primary categories: ingredients, wear and longevity, packaging, and inclusivity. For more on what's involved in our reporting, check out our complete reviews process and methodology page.

Our staff and testers

A beauty product is a personal purchase. You might be searching for a face cream to address persistent dryness or a new nail product to add to your Sunday self-care routine; you may simply be browsing around for the latest launches to hit the hair market. No matter what you seek or your individual needs and concerns, Allure wants to ensure that you love anything we recommend in our stories. We believe that having a diverse team of writers and editors—in addition to the wide range of outside testers and industry experts we regularly call upon—is essential to reaching that goal.
